The Terminal Operating System for intermodal terminals.

smartTOS digitises gate, train dispatch, yard and billing — modular, licensed by usage and productive in weeks instead of years.

No more Excel, shouting and paper

Wagon lists on paper, stock levels in someone's head, coordination via radio: manual processes cost time and produce errors. smartTOS captures every movement digitally — from gate to crane.

One real-time overview instead of isolated tools

A gate system here, an Excel list there, billing somewhere else: smartTOS brings all core processes together in one system. Stock, trains and trucks — one look is enough.

Escape the legacy TOS with no future

Your current system is no longer being developed? smartTOS is continuously enhanced and operated 24/7 by Evolit — with a planned migration of your data.

How smartTOS works

A day at the terminal — digital end to end

01

Pre-notification

Inbound and booking data enters the system via interfaces or import. You know what is coming — before the train rolls in or the truck arrives at the gate.

02

Gate-in & self-check-in

Truck handling via reference numbers, driver self-check-in and mobile damage inspection. No paperwork, short waiting times at the gate.

03

Transhipment & yard

Lifting orders arrive directly on the crane or reach-stacker terminal, loading units are positioned with geo-references — stock levels are accurate in real time.

04

Train handling & billing

Wagon lists, loading and outgate are documented digitally. All services performed flow automatically into billing.

Eight modules. One system.

Start with the CORE module and extend smartTOS exactly when your terminal needs it — without replacing the system.

CORE & Train Dispatch

The foundation: transport orders, wagon lists, train dispatch and loading-unit management in one system — every movement at the terminal documented in real time.

Gate & Self-Check-in

Truck handling without paperwork: digital ingate, outgate and inspection, identification via reference numbers, driver self-check-in and mobile damage documentation.

Yard & Depot

Geo-referenced yard management with flexible strategies and capacity management — plus depot functions for managing empty containers.

Repair

Damage and repair management for loading units: from the finding at the gate through repair status to release — fully documented and billable.

Billing

Automated billing of all terminal services: storage, lifting and additional costs are calculated from the movements actually recorded — no double data entry.

Videogate/OCR & Crane Interface

Integration of videogate and OCR systems as well as crane controls: automatic capture at the gate, real-time position data and lifting orders directly on the handling equipment.

Dashboard & Reporting

Utilisation, throughput times and stock levels at a glance: configurable dashboards and reports deliver the KPIs for day-to-day terminal operations and management.

Interfaces: EDIGES & eFTI

Standardised data exchange with operators and partners via EDIGES and open service APIs — pre-notifications, status messages and bookings flow automatically. eFTI-ready.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about smartTOS

How long does it take to introduce smartTOS?
PLATZHALTER (pending expert approval): With the CORE module your terminal is productive within a few weeks — depending on data migration and interfaces. Additional modules are added during live operations.
Does smartTOS run in the cloud or on-premise?
PLATZHALTER (pending expert approval): Both. The standard is SaaS operation in the EU cloud with 24/7 monitoring by Evolit; alternatively, on-premise operation in your own infrastructure is possible.
Can crane, gate and OCR systems be connected?
PLATZHALTER (pending expert approval): Yes. smartTOS connects crane controls, videogate/OCR systems and other terminal equipment via defined interfaces — lifting orders and position data arrive directly on the device.
How does migration from our existing TOS work?
PLATZHALTER (pending expert approval): Master data and stock are transferred in a structured way, the switchover is planned and happens without interrupting operations — including training for your team.
Who continues to develop and operate smartTOS?
PLATZHALTER (pending expert approval): smartTOS is continuously developed and operated by Evolit GmbH in Vienna — with active monitoring, regular releases and support in German and English.
What does smartTOS cost?
PLATZHALTER (licence-model wording, approval pending): Licence costs are based on your terminal's actual usage — you start without a multi-million investment and pay for what you use. We are happy to discuss details in the demo.
